Paralyzed by Indecision?

The Answer is created by your Action.

It's easy to be paralyzed by indecision when every choice you make feels SO important. What should your "about" page say? What image is the best for your emailer? How do you choose images for your portfolio? Which logo really represents you and your brand? What, which, why, when, where ...?

Your business is your baby. You want to do right by it, but you don't always know what's best. Every day, you're presented with new trends, new ideas, new opinions, new tools, new technologies. Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing! You need to decide between fewer choices.  So how to thin the herd of choice?

1. GO WITH YOUR GUT
Studies have shown that when you're presented with too many options, it can be helpful to just make a freaking decision already! Buck up, trust your instincts, and live with your decision.

2. SET A TIMER
Brainstorm as many pros/cons or costs/benefits as you can in 60 seconds. Be honest, and don't edit while you're writing. Forcing the decision-making process into a very short amount of time helps clarify your choice.

3. ASK AN OUTSIDER
Talk with a friend who is not in your industry and get an outside perspective. As creatives, we sometimes forget how the left-brained side of the world thinks. This valuable point of view can help you think like your clients instead of like a creative, and can help you select the choice that will help you best reach your clients.

4. PICK ONE ACTION
The Action you're willing to do is a great start. Then do it. This primes the pump and enables you to do the next step you're willing to do. Before you know it, you're moving.

5. ADD IT TO YOUR PLAN
Think about your desired outcome first. Work backwards to build a "To Do" list.

Get up and do it. Get help.
